What do you learn about the production process used on the film?
The story was created by George Lucas and Philip Kuafman. Directed by Stephan Spielberg. With the story creators they would discuss scenes and add pieces of information to the script that would link together. Then Stephan Spielberg would command the actors on what to do in each scene.
What do you learn about what makes a good character?
The podcasters discuss about how Indi would go that extra mile to get what he wants going through all the dangers in the first scene but to be afraid of snakes shows a sense of humour for the audience as he is only scared of snakes and not all the other dangers e.g. the giant bolder. They also say how the villain isn't a moustache twirling villain what they mean by this is he isn't your typical Nazi villain so that audience are automatically hooked in.
What do you learn about how to create a good story?
They are a intriguing opening scene with them looking for something. This creates enigma as the audience want to know what they are looking for. With all the dangers it shows straight away the type of character indi is as he is running away from all these things to escape death yet he is holding onto his hat while being chased by natives with poisonous darts.
When you think indi is safe on the plane and flying away you can tell indi doesn't like snakes from the way he reacts. This is a humours moment as indi has dodged all these hazards yet he is only petrified when he is safe next to a snake.
What lessons can you take from the podcast and the film that you can apply to your radio drama?
Various ways to intrigue the audience to start with a gripping opening scene to intise the audience into watching more. Also to create enigma throughout to keep the audience guessing on what might happen next.
