Swat Analysis;
1) Strengths;
I am a keen and outgoing individual who loves to interact with other people. I enjoy a challenge as my creativity is one of my stronges assets along with my ability to work with others. I adapt to new working environments and tasks very quickly as i am confident with photoshop, premier, and illustrator. I also know the basics of 3D Maya. I am also self motivated to compete a task that is incomplete
2) Weaknesses;
Following on from being motivated to do a task that is incomplete this can sometimes be my down fall. I like to make sure things are done otherwise and making time for completing them sometimes means I don't have any outside time as i am focused %100 on my work.
I also like to be a perfectionist. I belive this is a week ness as sometimes i spend way too much time completing something as little as one drawing from a comic book.
3) Opportunities;
Screen writing at university is one option. Universities that include script writing chooses include Bournemouth, Lincoln, Southampton, University of Wales Saint Davis and UCLA to name a few. University is a good option as it will give me a degree in scriptwriting that can be evidence for getting a good job.
Apprenterships/ Internships are a good option. This is because it gives you first hand experiance with what you would like to do. Being an understudy of someone who already writes scripts is a great option. Some companys that offer these oppitunitys are Monocle, Red Sofa London and even the BBC.

4) Threats;
There several threats working as a script writer. One is people can be in for the same job as you. This can be a big issue, predominantly in free lance you are fighting for your script to be picked for a media production against other competitors.

Short Term;
When I finish media at collage I have two pathways. The first is accepting a place at Southampton University. This is a good option as I have been on a open day there so I have already seen what it is like. The issue with this route is if they accept me or not.
http://www.southampton.ac.uk/humanities/undergraduate/modules/engl2078_scriptwriting.page
The other rout is looking for a apprenticeship. The weakness about this rout is it depends on how much experiance i can get from it if I choose the wrong apprenticeship then I might not get the experiance needed to take me further. Also getting to the placement might be an issue depending on where it is situated. Getting to the job interview would be manageable as my parents could give me a lift. I also have the use of public transport and digital soft-where to prepare my show reel.
Contingency;
Not sure I will get the placement at Southampton University as I haven't applied yet, if they don't accept I will also apply to Bournemouth, Lincoln and ARU.
Medium Term;
From my short to medium term goals this is where it progresses into getting more experiance. One rout I can do is once I finish my chose university I can become a free lance script writer. This is a strong choice as I can stay at home and not worry about making huge amounts of money. This will help me gain experiance as I will be drafting many scripts and handing them in to companies for them to accept or decline the script. One weekness I can see with this rout is it can be frustrating and kick your self confidence as you are more likely to be turned down than accepted for your scripts every time you hand one in.
The other rout is gaining more experiance and attending film festivals to see and study all the winning films and understand what makes a good film/ script. Also going to there film festivals will help me meet new people who do a similar job to me. Discussing with them what makes a good film and having plenty of ideas will refresh my mind. Also interacting with people could help me create contacts that my help in being successful in script writing .Then writing more scripts as I practice I will progress and get better with what I do so therefor eventually I will hit a break through. The issue is if I carry on writing scripts but there is still no one accepting me. If this does happen then I will route and re think my carer path.
Contingency;
If none of my script get accepted then I will look for a second job to work part time to fund my script writing.
Long Term;
One of my main long term goals is becoming a free lance script writer. The reason for this is because I enjoy working from home and writing creative storys. If free lance script writing doesn't work out then I would like to get an apprenticeship with the BBC. Then develop a relationship with them to the point that I get the job.
Contingency;
If the ideal long term goals don't work out then I would get a full time job working in TV and production.

I am a seventeen your old student currently studying at Long Road Sixth Form College. I thoroughly enjoy working at Long Road and I am currently doing a Level 3 Diploma in Media Studies. Socializing with different people in my class while working alongside them really helps my communication and listening skills. This has helped me grow further as I am continuously challenged to work with my classmates and teachers which means I am pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I am motivated to do whatever needs to be done to be successful with Media Studies and I regard myself as someone who is interested in people and enjoy being part of a team.
Some of my interests are tennis, watching films which helps my Media studies and following Swansea City FC.

I play tennis at a social level and sometimes on a competitive level. My work experience involved coaching my own group of young children at the end of the two week placement. This made me become more independent and organized. On the day I spoke in a clear, verbal and simplified manner for the children to understand and follow instructions.
Another job I had was as a newspaper delivery boy. This was really enjoyable to do as I had to deliver papers to people’s houses six times a week. Doing this as my first real job was very satisfying because I was earning my own money and becoming more independent and confident when interacting with people.
My last job was working at a pub washing up in the kitchens, because I couldn’t socialize with anyone I left after two months as I needed to focus on my Media studies at Long Road.
Over the summer I worked at my uncle’s farm helping out with the busy harvest. This helped me gain great listening skills as I would receive instructions from the boss, then I would follow them in the best way possible. Adapting to a new and different working environment was challenging at first, but soon I managed to adjust and fulfil what tasks were needed of me such as, cleaning the tractor or sweeping the corn into the barn.

I am an energetic and ambitious person who has developed a mature and responsible approach to any task I undertake. I am excellent at working with others in a group to achieve a shared goal and excel in tasks given to me.
I believe that my personal qualities have strengthened as I have matured. My leadership skills have improved during group work in media and team situations. I am well organized and reliable as I pack my bag every night prepping for the day ahead. I am determined to do well in my media studies at Long Road, also with any employment that I am involved with in the future.
I strive to set myself goals to complete throughout life and look forward to see what the world has to offer.
Personal Statement.
After writing many creative
scripts in my level 2 and 3 media diploma I have enjoyed developing them from
scratch, for this reason I would love to do your script-writing course at
university.
I have always loved creative
writing in English along with writing scripts in media, working in groups I
communicate and listen to peoples ideas and develop what the group thinks is
best. I also work individually on my own scripts in different units.
I use software called Adobe
Story. I like to use a wide range of
vocabulary to push myself. Before I even
start writing I always have a basis where I plan my ideas and what Idea I
should follow. In my media diploma we
present in certain units, this help to enhance my presentation, communication
and group work skills.
In my media course we are set
deadlines for units to be handed in. I manage meeting these deadlines very well
as I always reach them. If I’m near a deadline and still think I wont finish as
I am perfecting my work I will do it in my own time to get it complete to the
best of my ability.
I have enjoyed script writing
in the units we have done because it a new way to create a story from nothing.
I enjoy the planning part of it because I brainstorming is one of my strong
points coming up with many different ideas to develop into a potential final
script. Along with many drafts once I have the completed version it is very
satisfying as knowing that the completed work is there.
