Facebook
Purpose
Facebook is an online social media sight that millions use around the world. Either on PC mobile or tablet. People use Facebook on a day to day basis to stay in touch with their friends and family who could situated in different places. Facebook is also used to update the user on shared posts around the world that are trending/ popular. Posting is when you write a comment and publish to your friends online a comment or a status about something your doing or feeling. 
Content
Facebook involves posting online on oyur timeline, sharing involvs videos posts or statusus and showing your friends what may have a similar intrest, you can also follow people such as celebritys or friends who have changed there privercy settings, creating events is a big thing on facebook where you can invite friends to a event you are hosting, you can also be invited by friends to events such as parties, talking to friends through Facebook messanger is how most people contact there friends on facebook finaly you can comment and like photos and statusus that your friends have shared this is where you respond with feedback on if you agree with smething or like the look. 
Target user/ membership
Facebook is used for long term memories on a desktop display. Therefor Facebook is used for people from the age of 13 and above as this is the age restriction for people who wan't/have Facebook. 
Sources of revenue
Facebook make there money through people paying Facebook to put there advertisements on suggested posts and a side tab. Also companies invest in percentages of Facebook through a contract agreement. 
Legal/ ethical issues
These are the most common legal/ ethical issues; did not give informed consent, which is required by Federal law.
Facebook’s  Data Use Policy is too general and doesn't give user’s the option to opt-out.
It’s entirely possible that some users maybe harmed by the experiment.


Instagram
Purpose
Instagram is a photo sharing app that is compatible for tablet and mobile. It allows users to look at peoples photographs and videos to either like or comment on them. It also allows the user to share the images on other social media sights such as Facebook and twitter to name a few.
Content
On Instagram you can like and comment on posts people share. You can also post your own photos for your followers to see.                                            
Target user/ membership
Instagram is used to share photos to followers who are interested in what photographs you take. For this reason i think Instagram is targeted towards older teenagers at the age of 17 because most older teenager have phones with cameras on to take pictures. 
Source of revenue
Instagram makes money through ads paid by the advertisers. 
Legal/ ethical issues
some legal and ethical issues with Instagram include personal information being shown when being followed. Revealing yourself to strangers who can see you but you cant see them.  

Twitter

Purpose
Twitter is one of the biggest social media sights out there. It is on many platforms such as mobile and PC. You can post tweets that are limited to 140 characters. With the text you can tweet images and re-tweet and like posts that catch your attention.
Content
On twitter you can like and re tweet posts that your followers have shared. You can also tweet for your followers to see, if they re tweet the post there followers can see as well. You can also private message people and follow people and companies.



Target user/ membership
Twitter is used for on the go news and keeping up with whats going on in the world. For this reason they have a trending hashtag for people to see whats popular in the world. For this reason I would say the target user is a middle age teenager. e.g. 16  
Source of revenue
Twitter make most of there money through data licensing. Twitter like Facebook have advertisements on there social media sight. Working the same way Facebook do with advertisement, the companies paying them to put there advertisements on Twitter.  
Legal/ ethical issues
One big legal/ ethical issue is who published a certain post, as you can retweet what has been published.

1. You can keep in touch with friends and family. This is a positive as no matter how far away they are you can still talk to them through Facebook message. Also with updates, photos and profile information. 
2. You can make new friends on Facebook. As you can add up to one thousand friends. For example you comment on a status and someone else comments on it who is friends with the same friend who's status it is, you may flow into a convocation. This could lead to becoming friends.                     
3. Expressing yourself is very simple with statusus updates between showing off your favourite videos to posting profile pictures. 
1. Cyber bullying is one of the biggest problems on all social media sights especially Facebook.

2. Facebook can be a distraction from tasks you are trying to do. 
3. When posting something new it can make you feel very insecure and feel like people are judging you. 
Instagram
1. You can keep connected with friends on how you and they change from distances away.  
2. You can make friends of friends by adding people from friends. 
3. You have a sense of creative freedom when taking images 
1. You can get hate for taking images from anonymous  people. 
2. Instagram can make you insecure as anyone can look at your images and judge them. 
3. Instagram can distract you from the task at hand. 
Twitter
1. You can keep in touch with current trends in the world 
2. You can see what friends are up to and what they are doing 
3. you can express yourself on twitter with posts. 
1. Cyber bulling is a common acurance on twitter as a lot of people use twitter.
2. It can make you insecure with what people may say back to you.

1. Advertising;
On peoples Facebook there are many different tabs situated on your Facebook timeline advertising different things e.g. Carling or Adidas. There are different adverts displayed on different peoples timelines unique to them. This is done through Facebook recognising what pages or celebrity's people like such as if I someone liked a football page they would show adverts like Adidas who are selling football boots. Facebook like other social media sites target adverts to there appropriate audience. e.g. for teenagers Apple, Sony, New Look, Adidas and many other companies with websites.
2. Viral Marketing;
An example of viral marketing on Facebook is Old Spice the sower gel. The unique advert posted on Facebook to advertise there shower gel got a huge response from Facebook users as it was shared by many people leading almost everyone who was on face book to have seen o heard about the advert. This is an indirect promotion.
3. Product/ service reviews
On Facebook you can look at comments or statuses people post and see how they feel about a certan product that you look to invest in.

Instagram;
1. Advertising;
Like with Facebook the adverts pop up on peoples timeline. The adverts are paid by the advertisers to Instagram to be put on. Adverts look like normal user posts as you scroll through your timeline but it clearly says the company who's product it is and what the product is. If someone likes the post likes the look of the product they can also share or comment on the post. You can also do this on Facebook as well as liking the post.
2. Viral Marketing;
An example of a brand who thrives of marketing on social media sights is Mercerises Benes. They upload unique photos of there cars for there audience to see. As Facebook owns Instagram they also have a Facebook page full of the Instagram photos on there.
3. Product/ service reviews
On Instagram people take pictures and add a caption to show how they feel about a certain product. Then they hashtag it for people to see what its about. If people like or comment on the post with there thoughts you get a better picture of how good the product is.
Twitter;
1. Advertising;
Like Facebook and Instagram Twitter have tabs situated on there social timeline. There are unique adverts for peoples timelines depending on who or what there following e.g. If you are a teenager on twitter they will target you with things you are following e.g. if your following apple and running they will target you with the latest tec from apple like the apple watch.
2. Viral Marketing;
The mobile game PokémonGO has exploded on twitter with many players talking about the game on twitter. They have been using the hashtag feature to promote new thins and show off what Pokémon they have caught. This isn't a promotion by the company it is a promotion from the people playing the game and sharing there experiences with the world.
3. Product/ service reviews
Twitter is used mostly for its hashtag system. You can tell if a product is doing well if people retweet like or reply to the post telling there thoughts. e.g. A new song comes out you hashtag the song and let people know your opinion on the song.

Video Streaming; This would be a video sharing website where people with either there phone or web cam can talk to people watching there live stream. Create short and funny clips or have a deep convocation with there audience. The only limit is your creativity. You can follow share and watch peoples live streams at any time even if the live stream is finished. Before entering the website you have to agree to the terms and policies if you break the terms and policies you will be banned from the website. This website would appeal to young adults as you can talk to people and lend your personal experience to help another person out.

Video Edit; No internet is needed unless you want to download clips. It is an app/ website where you can edit your personal clips by playing around with different effects. each week effects are added or improved to make them look cooler. When you enter the website you get a step by step simple tutorial on how everything works. This would appeal to people who enjoy editing as it is an app they can edit on the go instead of having to bring round there laptop with them.

Dating; This would be a website for the people looking for love. When entering the website you are put through a quick questionnaire so you have some rough matches when you first go into the dating sight. With things you search for on the website such as a sports team it would match you up with someone who likes the same team as you. This website would be for 18+ as there is no age restriction above 18 for this website.

How do they socialise? - Going to the cinema, Going out for drinks with friends, going out to eat and taking pictures

What films do they like? - Chronicle, Hard-core Henry, Shaw Shank Redemption.

What do they read? - Harry Potter, Dragon Tattoo franchise

How do they spend there money? - Food, drink, new lenses for there camera, dvd's, games books and film magazines.

Who is their peer group? - People age 17-19 into video games and enjoys working with cameras either phone or film.

Who do they not identify with? - They don't identify with drug users or snobby people as Ray likes to socialise with alcohol and his friends.

How do they express themselves? - They express themselves through making short films and through the clothes they wear. Also what he likes such as films and books.

What do they love? - Making short films and going on a night out with friends.

What do they hate? - In polite people, aggressive and attention seeking people.

Why would he like my social media idea?

Ray would like my video streaming idea as he can express himself and show off to more people what he can do and what it is like making short films.
P5; Purpose; 
The Purpose of this website is for people to interact with other people.
Content; 
This website will involve people streaming things that they do or interacting with there audience through a live chat. You can follow people because when you enter you create an account. You can like peoples live streams or re watch then like them if you missed the live stream. You can share live streams to your followers to attract more views for people.
Target Audience/ Membership; 
My target audience will be 18 year olds because most older teenagers have a phone and have spare time to stream there hobbies or talk to there audience about things going on.
Production Plan/ Launch date; 
The website will launch on the first of January because this will be just after christmas when people get new phones, laptops or money.
Possible revenue streams;  
The revenue will be from advertisement as the website/ app will be free to access.
