Meeting Minutes (Style, content, narrative structure, genre and target audience)
Style
The style of Walking Dead is different to the Game of
Thrones in many ways. Firstly, the styles differ by the time period that the
shows are set in. Game of thrones is set in a medieval period in the fictional
land of Westeros and as such they are lacking in the availability of technology
available in the walking dead.
e.g
There are also ways that the two shows are similar however,
because of the events in the walking dead everyone involved does not have
access to very advanced technology, fuel is a precious commodity in The Walking
Dead and as a result horses are used as the main form of transport. In game of
thrones horses are also used for transport because f the time period they are
in, at the time it is the most convenient way to travel.
Content
In Game of thrones we see Ser Waymar and the others track
the wildlings beyond the wall, after which they discover that they have been
killed by an unknown entity, this entity then attacks them leaving only Will to
survive.
CREDIT SEQUENCE
We then see Will in a completely different area looking
exhausted, and some soldier catch up to him on horse-back and capture him,
after this we are introduced to the Stark household and then see Ned Stark
execute Will.
In the Walking Dead the story starts with Rick Grimes
searching for fuel amid a deserted roadside, various bits of debris and
abandoned cars lay strewn about and rick makes his way on foot to a nearby gas
station where he sees a crudely drawn “no gas sign” upon seeing this he prepares
to return to his vehicle but stops when he sees a little girl pick up a teddy
bear and walk away. Believing that this little girl is alone and unprotected
Rick tries to console her as she walks away from him, but she turns around to reveal that she is a
walker and is missing part of her cheek, she then proceeds to attack him
prompting Rick to shoot her in the head.
CREDIT SEQUENCE
After this we are taken back to before the zombie event,
Rick Grimes and his co-worker Shane are talking in their squad car when police
dispatch interrupts their conversation and requests their assistance in a
police chase, racing off to the scene they arrive with another squad car and
set up a spike strip before blocking the road with their vehicles and waiting
for the suspect.
Not long after they arrive and promptly hit the spike strip,
flipping their car and giving Rick and the other officers a chance to close in.
The suspects crawl out of their car and in the ensuing
firefight Rick is injured.
Narrative
Structure
In the opening scene for Game Of Thrones the story starts at
the start of an event, Ser Waymar and co. are heading beyond the wall to track
the wildlings, after this scene and the credit sequence we see that follow on
directly from that chronologically.
In the opening scene of the walking dead we see rick Grimes
searching for fuel after the zombie apocalypse, we can get a sense of how son
because he is still wearing his police uniform from before the event and they
are fairly clean (albeit rather lived in).
After the credit sequence we see Rick Grimes before the
event at his job, he is wearing his police uniform and everything is fine, this
event takes place before the opening scene in terms of time but the audience is
shown it second to accommodate the structure of the story.
Genre
The walking dead is a horror whereas game of thrones is more
of a fantasy story, these are two very different genres but game of thrones and
the walking dead share some similarities.
These can be seen in the elements of suspense in the two
shows for example the first scene in game of thrones is very similar in style
to the first scene in the walking dead, the characters are searching for
something in a very quiet place, there are signs in that place that something
terrible has happened and that there could be danger there with a kind of
climax towards the end of the scene.
This climax results in a “monster” that it is assumed is
responsible for the desolation being either killed or escaped from.
Target audience
The target audience for the Walking Dead is a range and
diversity. With the mixture of races in the walking dead it creates a diverse background
that can intrigue the audience. The
Walking Dead creates mid season finales to captivate the audience and create
temptation and anticipation for the next episode in 3-4 months. The target audience
is anyone from 16+ really although the rating is an 18 most young people what’s
the series as they feel it is good entertainment.
With Game Of Thrones on the other hand they both have
similar target audiences. It targets the more young adults as the language used
in the TV series is of a high class. Although it contradicts its self with a
lot of young audiences being entertained by what content is in the TV series.

Script feedback
Length: I got some good feedback to do with length. They said there was allot of description but the length of the script at the moment wasn't long enough. It doesn't drag on so the script is a confident length.
Format: The format is good. There my be some spelling mistakes. scene setting isn't included and no parenthetic involved.
Structure: Defiantly a good structure and easy to read. The beginning has a captivating hook to intrigue the audience.
Dialogue: The dialog doesn't seem to be used much but it is in the right places. The dialog flows well. most are short and snappy. Spelt some words wrong but good short nappy dialog that doesn't drag on much.
e) Scene 1= Introduction to the detective an inside into what he is like as a person and how he approaches situations. Starting with a chase/ raid from one detective. Introduced to the innocent family. Stereotypical family to show how little and venerable they are. In the chase the children and the family spot the detective chasing someone. The parents say to the children 'Its just a silly man doing something bad'
Scene 2= Both kids from each family are going to the park with there parents (both family's are friends and are going together) and but the kids go to early. The parents realise where they are and rush to see if there ok. The children are playing on the swings fine laughing together. The detective on the other hand is in a different place alone in a food restaurant off the motorway seeing if a call would create a purpose for him to leave the quite restaurant.
Scene 3= In the third scene there will be an introduction into the police station where the detectives work. All the other detectives envy the main detective because of his case record. This will create an interesting plot as it connotes binary opposites. The tension in this scene is pushed up a level when there is a confrontation between two experienced detectives that which one of them thinks its some kind of competition.

Crime Drama Planning
a) There are several general series arc's for my Crime Drama. One arc was the development of one character. The main detective who has never lost a chase is hunting down the kidnapper and the lost children. The detective wants to find the children and bring the criminal to justice.
The kidnapper is a clever man leaving no trails and he want to be able to get away with the crime.
There is also a desperate family wanting there children back. This is an interesting plot as all the characters want something that they cant have.
b) In the specific episode I am going to be doing the start of the kidnapping. Where the antagonist creates grave problems for the innocent family. Furthermore leading to the introduction of the main detective. The main detective will attempt to find what's happened and the episode will end when the detective finds something very significant that could be a very helpful clue.
c) The opening will consist of a extreme close up of one family members face. Establishing the setting of a family home for the very first part of the film. It will also show a detective mid way through a house raid tracking someone down.
d) City because of a potential high crime rate. Guns. Knifes. Blood. Police tape. Latex gloves. fingerprints. Binary Opposites. Dark Lighting. Police cars. Magnifying glass. Newspaper. Phone/ telephone box. High tense music.

Feedback on script
The feedback overall was very positive they all said the first part of my script was very descriptive. But as the story went on they lost track with who the characters were. The grammar was a problem as i had some spelling issues when coupled with punctuation. The characters had a good use of identity though as you knew who each character was. Reading the script people got confused with who characters where such as Kerry and Kim. I may have needed to make it more obvious that they where the twin that annoyed Jason. I feel like the script i wrote needs vast improvement as it was unclear after the first scene who characters where. I needed to describe the characters and what they looked like to make it more interesting. The plot was confusing for people as there was two separate story's.
